New Commercial Director for ONdigital

15th October 1998

Jim Ratcliffe, managing director of Granada Home Technology, has been appointed Commercial Director of ONdigital, in succession to Anthony Sethill. He will join with immediate effect.

He has worked on the development of Digital Terrestrial television, having been a member of the British Digital Broadcasting Task Force from July 1997 to January 1998, in the period leading up to BDB being granted its licence by the Government.

Jim, aged 43, was born in Australia and has worked in New Zealand and the USA before settling in the UK.

Stephen Grabiner, chief executive of ONdigital, said:

"I am delighted Jim has agreed to join us. As we move from the launch period into establishing ourselves and building our business, he will bring invaluable experience of the consumer market, enhancing and strengthening our marketing and management."

Jim Ratcliffe said:

"ONdigital has a unique, clear and focussed proposition for the 17 million households who have yet to subscribe to pay TV. Flexible choice; manageable choice; no dish; no cable; just your traditional aerial; plug and play. I know this is what most people want; it is what ONdigital will deliver."
