Pace receivers launch BBC Choice digital channel

8th October 1998

To support the launch of the BBC's new digital TV channel, BBC Choice, Pace Micro Technology provided both the digital satellite and terrestrial receivers for the BBC, to enable a live demonstration at launch.

Using the Pace digital satellite receiver for BSkyB and digital terrestrial receiver for ONdigital, the BBC previewed its new digital TV channel on a video wall, to a large invited audience at a restaurant in London. The new channel has been made specifically for the launch of digital satellite and terrestrial television in the UK.

Andrew Wallace, Pace's Marketing Director said:

"Pace is delighted to support the BBC with their launch. As the only manufacturer to have digital satellite receivers ready for BSkyB's launch and the only manufacturer supplying digital satellite, terrestrial and cable receivers in the UK, Pace was a natural choice for the BBC.
"Pace recognises the importance of providing good quality programming for the success of digital TV, and has already launched digital TV around the world with 15 different broadcasters. We particularly wanted to support the BBC with the launch of their digital channel, to be able to demonstrate the full offering of digital TV, over both satellite and terrestrial transmission."
